Chapter 40: The Frequency of Anarchy (Part 2)

As the sub-quantum signal saturated the atmosphere, the world shifted on a fundamental level across the five boroughs.

In Times Square, the towering digital billboards, which seconds ago were displaying underwear ads and stock tickers, simultaneously glitched into static. Then, they snapped into a unified, high-definition image: Jack, sitting in a velvet throne, framed by the pulsing, chaotic blue light of the Chitauri core. His chalk-white face, smudged black eyes, and crimson scar of a grin filled every screen, looming like a manic god over the bewildered tourists below.

Inside the Helicarrier's command deck, hovering invisibly over the Hudson River, alarms blared. Nick Fury, his single eye widening, slammed his fist onto the primary holographic console.

"REPORT!" he barked.

Agent Maria Hill struggled with the controls. "Sir, it’s a total sub-quantum resonance override! Not just frequencies, it's hitting device-level protocols! It’s on every screen in the Tri-State area! It’s… it’s originating from Coney Island."

Fury stared at the main viewer, which was currently broadcasting Jack’s silent, unblinking crimson smile.

"He’s using alien tech..." Fury murmured, his voice tight with controlled fury. "He’s bypassed Stark’s entire dampening grid. Call Stark. Tell him to get his shiny metal ass to Brooklyn. And activate Strike Team Delta. I want that clown bagged, gagged, and sitting in a damp cage before he can say 'good evening'."

On the Funhouse stage, the Chitauri core vibrated violently, its blue light humming through Jack's skin as the [35.0% SYNCHRONIZATION] kept him in perfect, agonizing euphoria. He slowly raised the stolen brass microphone to his lips, his unpainted crimson smile expanding past human limits.

"GOOD EVENING, NEW YORK!" Jack screech-screamed into the microphone, his voice instantly blasting through millions of smartphone speakers, smart TVs, taxi screens, and laptops across the city, layered with a sickening, high-frequency resonance from the Chitauri core.

"Did you miss me?! Of course you did!" Jack cackled, leaning into the camera lens. "You all look so stressed! Working nine-to-five, paying taxes, listening to rich guys in flying metal suits tell you how to live your lives! It's so… ordinary!"

He took a theatrical bow, gesturing around the dark, rotting Funhouse.

"So I decided to give you all a break! A limited-time special! A masterclass... in liberating your inner lunatic!" Jack grinned, his bloodshot eyes glowing with electric blue light. "Rule number one: Stop worrying about the future! It's overrated! Worrying is for people who have plans! And plans... plans are for people who are afraid to laugh when the roller coaster is plunging into the ocean! HAHAHAHA!"

His manic, wheezing hehehe was amplified a thousand-fold, echoing through empty living rooms and crowded subway stations, sending a physical wave of psychological discomfort across the city.

[Boss, the signal resonance is causing minor cognitive distortion in anyone listening for more than thirty seconds,] FRIDAY’s voice hummed inside Tony Stark’s helmet.

Iron Man was currently blazing toward Brooklyn, a red-and-gold streak across the night sky. "Yeah, I can feel it through my helmet speaker, FRIDAY. It’s like a neurological itch. Nick says Delta Team is breaching. Tell them I'll handle the alien tech; they handle the paint."

Inside the Funhouse, Natasha checked the ammunition in her suppressed pistol, her steel-grey eyes reflecting the chaotic blue light. "Breach teams are in position, Jack. Ten seconds. Stark is two miles out."

Felicia cracked her knuckles, pulling her black cat mask over her face. "Guess the monologue is over."

"Monologue?!" Jack shrieked into the microphone, exploding into a wild, screeching laugh that shook the dust off the ceiling. "THIS ISN'T A MONOLOGUE, GIRLS! THIS IS THE AUDITION!"

He raised his gloved hand toward the front entrance of the Funhouse just as the heavy doors were blown inward by S.H.I.E.L.D. tactical explosives.

BOOM!

Thick violet smoke and flash-bang grenades erupted through the opening, instantly triggering alarms. Twelve heavily armed Delta Team operatives in tactical black gear, gas masks, and neural-damper helmets surged in, weapons raised, aiming straight at the stage.

"S.H.I.E.L.D.! DON'T MOVE! GET ON THE GROUND!" an operative bellowed over the loud alarms.

Jack didn't get on the ground. He popped his teeth, let out a dry, wheezing hehehe, and grabbed the microphone stand like it was a rock star's prop.

"WELCOME TO THE PARTY, BOYS!" Jack screamed toward the armed breach team. "DARE TO BREAK IN! DARE TO STOP THE SHOW! SHOWTIME, RED! SHOWTIME, KITTY! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
