How Orbit Novels works

1. Finding something to read

• Homepage. The Trending banner at the top rotates through this week's trending and featured novels. Below it: New Novels, Recent Updates (the chapters that just went live, grouped by novel), the Novel Ranking, Authors to Discover and a handful of Random Novels.
• All Novels. Every novel as a card with its cover, status, chapter count, views, rating, genre, tags and description. Sort by newest, views, rating or name, and filter by status or genre.
• Novel Finder. The most detailed search: title or author (or words in the description), minimum chapters, date added, minimum rating and number of ratings, several genres at once, and tags matched as all or any.
• Ranking. This Week is based on reader activity over the last 7 days; All Time is total views.
• Genre pages. Tap a genre chip anywhere on the site to see every novel in that genre, newest first.
• Made for You. Suggestions from the genres of the novels in your My List (trending novels if your list is empty).
• Random. Opens a random novel, for when you cannot decide.
• Request and Vote. Ask for a novel you want to see on the site, and vote for other readers' requests.

2. Reading a novel

1. Open a novel. Its page shows the cover, rating, status, chapter count, views and readers (how many people saved it to My List), plus a Details table with its release date, last update, comment count and rank, with tabs for About, Table of Contents, Reviews and Community.
2. Press ▶ Start Reading for the first chapter, or pick one in the Table of Contents. Long novels show 25 chapters at a time: tap a range such as 26–50, use the arrows, or switch to newest first.
3. Tap Aa Reading settings on a chapter to change the text size (A− / A+), the page color (Auto, Dark, Sepia or Light) and the font (Serif or Sans). The choice is remembered in your browser.
4. Use the previous / next buttons at the end of each chapter. On phones the chapter buttons stay reachable at the bottom of the screen.
5. Some chapters start with a content warning or an author's note. Chapters the author marked as mature ask you to confirm before the text loads.

3. Library & reading progress

• Press + My List on a novel's page to save it. Everything you saved is in your Library under Saved Books.
• While you are signed in, the site remembers the chapter you were reading and how far you scrolled. The homepage shows a Continue reading card, and the Library's Reading History tab shows a progress bar for every novel you started.

4. Ratings, comments & follows

• Rate a novel from 1 to 5 stars on its Reviews tab. You can change your rating any time; authors cannot rate their own books.
• Like a chapter with the heart button, and comment at the end of any chapter (up to 4,000 characters). The Community page shows the latest comments across the site.
• Follow an author from their profile. You are notified when they publish a new novel. Authors are notified when someone follows them, likes one of their chapters or comments on their novel.
• Share any novel or chapter with the share buttons; the link shows a preview image when pasted into Facebook, X, LINE or Discord.
• Report a novel, chapter or comment with the Report button if something breaks the rules.

5. Publishing your novel

Publishing is free for any signed-in member. The short version is below; the full step-by-step with tips is on How to publish a web novel for free.

1. Sign in, open the menu (☰) and choose Write a Book, or press Write a New Book on your Dashboard.
2. Fill in the novel's details: title, author name, genre (pick one or create a new one), status (Ongoing, Complete or Hiatus), tags (suggestions appear as you type), a description, and a cover — upload a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 5 MB, or paste an image link.
3. Save, and you land on the novel's manage page, ready for chapter 1.

6. Writing chapters

• Press ✎ Write chapter on the novel's manage page (or + New in the editor's chapter list). The editor autosaves about four seconds after you stop typing, and again when you switch chapters or leave the tab, so a closed tab costs you at most your last few words. On a computer, Ctrl/⌘ + S saves right away.
• A chapter stays a private draft until you press Publish. Only published chapters are visible to readers. A published chapter shows Update instead, and Settings → Move back to drafts hides it again.
• On a computer the chapter list sits on the left and the chapter settings on the right; on an iPad or phone they open from the Chapters and Settings buttons. Focus hides everything except the title and the text, and the Aa menu sets the page color (match the site, dark, sepia or light), text size and font.
• Add images inside a chapter with the image button (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 5 MB). Settings holds the content warning, the author's note and the 18+ mature label.
• Already have the whole book? 📋 Paste & auto-split turns a manuscript into chapters at headings like Chapter 2 or ตอนที่ 2, or every set number of words. It shows how many chapters you will get, and you can check, rename, merge or remove each one before publishing. The public Chapter Splitter tool does the same without an account.

7. Managing what you published

• Dashboard shows your totals (views, comments, followers, books published) and every book you wrote.
• Manage on a book opens its chapter list, 25 per page and newest page first, with each chapter's status and views and Edit / Delete buttons.
• ⚙ Edit details changes the title, genre, status, tags, description or cover at any time.
• Deleting a whole book is in the Danger zone on the manage page, asks for confirmation, and cannot be undone.

8. Growing your readership

• New books appear in New Novels and Recent Updates on the homepage, on All Novels and on their genre page, and new authors are featured in Authors to Discover.
• Novel pages and each novel's first three chapters are offered to search engines. New pages can take days to weeks to appear in Google, so share your link in the meantime.
• Readers who follow you are notified when you start a new novel, and every chapter you publish shows up in Recent Updates, so regular updates keep you visible.
