Chapter 46: The Spring Afternoon Calm

By four PM, the grand opening crowd had gradually filtered out, leaving behind a warm, quiet late afternoon.

The shop had made over fifteen hundred dollars in sales on its first day, secured twelve new repair contracts, and established itself as the new heart of the 5th Street neighborhood.

Leo and Sarah had gone to the diner down the block to grab celebratory milkshakes, leaving Ethan and Maya alone in the sunny shop.

Ethan was sitting on his wooden workbench stool, filling out the customer intake receipts for the new repair orders.

Maya walked over, carrying two cups of fresh iced tea, and sat on the edge of the workbench beside him.

"Successful day, boss," she said, handing him a cup.

Ethan took a sip, leaning his arm on the cool wood. "Better than I ever imagined."

Maya looked at the intake sheets on his clipboard. "Looks like you're booked solid for the next three weeks."

"Yeah," Ethan smiled, looking up at her. "Gonna be a lot of late nights at this bench."

Maya leaned in close, wrapping her arms around his neck, her dark hair brushing against his cheek. "Good thing your co-owner likes staying late in this shop."

Ethan wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her onto his lap as she laughed softly, her head resting against his chest.

They sat together on the wooden stool near the sunny workbench, listening to the soft, rhythmic hum of the shop's amplifier playing quietly in the background, completely at peace.
