Chapter 43: The Underground Kingdom (Part 2)

The hum of the stolen server racks vibrated through the damp concrete of the abandoned subway station. Blue light from the Chitauri-powered terminal illuminated the chipped white tiles, painting Jack’s pale, unpainted face in cold neon hues.

He stood in front of a giant blueprint of Manhattan spread across an old wooden spool table, holding a piece of chalk in one hand and a half-eaten pizza crust in the other.

"Ladies, feast your eyes on the white whale!" Jack rasped, tapping the chalk heavily against a glowing schematic on the terminal monitor. "The grandest, sleekest, most obnoxiously tall symbol of corporate superheroism in North America!"

On the screen, a 3D wireframe render of Avengers Tower spun in slow, crisp high-definition.

Felicia leaned over the table, her silver-clawed fingers tapping against the edge of the blueprint. "Avengers Tower? Jack, after the stunt you pulled on the Brooklyn Bridge, that building is on Level-5 Omega lockdown. S.H.I.E.L.D. turrets on the roof, motion sensors in the vents, and FRIDAY has probably been upgraded with three layers of clown-proof firewall."

"Which makes it the only proper venue for the grand finale!" Jack cackled softly, stepping up behind Natasha and resting his chin on her shoulder. "Right, Red? Go big or go home to Moscow!"

Natasha didn't flinch at his touch. She leaned back slightly into his chest, her eyes narrowed as she studied the security protocols flashing on the screen.

"It's not impossible," Natasha murmured, her voice cool and analytical. "Tony shifted his primary security grid to the upper penthouse after you hijacked his suit. That leaves the secondary sub-basement vaults—where Stark keeps his private decommissioned prototypes, historical artifacts, and high-value tech—running on an isolated backup server."

"An isolated backup server?" Jack purred into her ear, his breath warm against her skin. "Oh, Moscow... you talk dirty when you talk about network architecture."

Natasha let out a dry, amused chuckle, turning her head slightly to catch his lips in a brief, lingering kiss before turning back to the map. "Keep your focus, clown. If we hit the lower vaults, we don't just breach Avengers Tower—we breach it from the abandoned subway utility tunnels right below their foundation."

[GRAND QUEST UNLOCKED: "THE CITY-WIDE CURTAIN CALL"]

Primary Objective: Infiltrate the subterranean vault of Avengers Tower, steal Tony Stark’s private trophy collection, and leave a permanent "Joker's Signature" on the main lobby display.

Secondary Objective: Broadcast the heist live to Avengers Tower’s internal comms network.

Reward upon Completion: Synchronization Level 35.0% → 50.0% + Unlock Final System Form.

Jack’s bloodshot eyes glowed with an electric-crimson spark as the system text burned into his vision. Fifty percent synchronization—the half-way threshold to absolute, unbridled anarchy.

"Here’s the game plan, gang!" Jack shrieked happily, leaping onto the subway tracks and pointing his chalk at the blueprint.

"Step One: Felicia uses her charm—and her wire-cutters—to bypass the sub-basement bio-scanners. Step Two: Natasha feeds FRIDAY a nice, cozy S.H.I.E.L.D. override code to loop the security cameras. Step Three..."

Jack pulled his crimson lip balm from his pocket, dragging a huge red 'X' right over the top of Avengers Tower on the blueprint.

"...Step Three: I use [Joker’s Anarchy Ledger] to drain Tony's private emergency fund, replace all the suit display glass with funhouse mirrors, and leave a giant inflatable rubber duck in the Arc Reactor lobby! DARE 'EM TO CLEAN UP THE MESS! HAHAHAHA!"

Felicia grinned, closing her laptop with a sharp SNAP. "I'll start prepping the thermite drill. This is going to be the heist of the century."

Natasha picked up her twin pistols, checking the action one last time before holstering them. She looked at Jack, her steel-grey eyes sparkling with a mixture of lethal precision and deep, unshakeable devotion.

"Get your paint ready, Jack," Natasha whispered, her lips curving into a dangerous, beautiful smile. "We're going to give Tony Stark a night he'll never forget."
